South Africa

As many of you know, I visited South Africa (for work) for 2 weeks in March. Before leaving, I read Long Walk to Freedom, Nelson Mandela's autobiography. What a compelling man. I highly recommend this book. I learned so much on this trip. What a beautiful country, with such a riveting history.

Aren't these trees beautiful? At sunset they look simultaneously elegant and eerie.

I stayed in a rural village for part of the trip. I've put a photo of the homestead below.

A Bike ride in Oceanside!

TJ and I took a short (5 miles) bike ride in Oceanside that ended up at these cliffs and the beach. Before the return trip, we sat on a bench overlooking the ocean, ate our sandwiches, and admired the dolphins gracefully "surfing" the waves. Check out TJ's mini mohawk from the bike helmet! :)

Naya

Okay folks, I know I haven't posted in a loooooooooong time. So I'm going to make it up to you by adding several posts right now!
The first is on Naya. As you may know I've been volunteering at the animal shelter. Naya is a shelter dog who has been adopted (yay!) but her new family can't take her for a little while. She was getting really stressed out at the shelter, so another volunteer and I decided to be foster families. TJ and I take her Fri - Mon, and the other volunteer takes her Mon - Friday. So I have a furry friend on the weekends!
Here she is:
