Sunny Saturday
What a Saturday - the temperature hit 70 degrees, and in early March! My cousin Anita was visiting, and we both ventured to the city without even bringing our jackets!
We attended the Left Conference at Cooper Union, and ducked out of the afternoon sessions so that we could enjoy the amazing day.
We wandered, then lounged in Washington Square Park, where we happened on a beautiful moment: four or five middle-aged men had gathered together to play guitar and accordion, and sing. They were a spirited group, and we delighted in their rendition of "In the Midnight Hour."

We then made the obligatory pilgrimage to Babycakes, the best cupcakes in Manhattan. Actually, they might be the best cupcakes I've ever had!
After dinner with friends, we had drinks at the Bourgeois Pig. I had a glass of the "Attitude" Pinot Noir, a fitting drink for a dark, red-lit basement bar with funky furniture and a fabulous soundtrack - Tom Waits and Ella Fitzgerald, while we were there. Here's a shot of the counter above the lounge chair I was reclining on. I have this thing for candelabras.
